The footage, posted by the Pasadena Humane Society and SCPCA in California, shows the pair playing together as she teaches the puppy sign language. Julia is seen teaching Walter the sign commands for ‘food’, ‘water’ and ‘sit.’ And it appears the young crossbreed dog is learning fast.

‘I love Walter,’ she says in sign language. ‘Walter is my best friend.’ The video has already been shared almost 10,000 times since it was posted to the Society’s page last week.

Walter was just six weeks old when he was found abandoned with the rest of his litter last December, ABC News reports. Someone had spotted the puppies and brought them into the local animal shelter.

It was a happy ending for Walter and Julia, but the Pasadena Humane Society hopes the video will remind people that there is ‘always someone out there for everyone’

‘When I first held Julia, since she couldn’t really hear my voice she would smell my neck — and when I first held Walter, he did almost the same exact thing,’ she said.
‘I remember just looking at him, and I just knew that he was meant to be ours,’ she adds. ‘They’re the same.’
